Bad Website Hurting Your Septic Leads?

If you’re running Google Ads for your septic service but still not getting the phone calls or form submissions you expected, your website might be the problem. It’s frustrating. I know. You’re paying for ads, people are clicking, but very few are calling you or turning into paying customers.

Let’s break down what might be going wrong and how to fix it.

First, it’s essential to understand how Google Ads works. You’re paying every time someone clicks on your ad. That click sends a potential customer to your website or landing page. But what happens next? If the page doesn’t load quickly, looks outdated, is hard to read on mobile, or fails to make a strong impression, most visitors will bounce. That is, they leave without calling or submitting a form.

For septic service companies, this is a critical point of failure. Your potential customer is often in a state of urgency. They might have a full tank, a backup, or a failing drain field. They need you and they need you now. If your site doesn’t immediately communicate trust, professionalism, and clarity, they’ll move on to the next company in search results.

Here’s what we see time and again: the ad IS working, but the landing page or website is not. The phone isn’t ringing, not because your ads are bad, but because the customer didn’t get what they needed when they arrived on your site.

So what does a good landing page or website need to do?

Load fast. If your site takes longer than 3 seconds to load, many visitors will hit the back button. This is extremely important for landing pages that appear on a prospect’s cell phone. Every landing page linked to your ads must load fast on mobile. In our experience, more than 60% of searches are from mobile phones.

Look clean and professional . This includes modern design, proper formatting, and trust signals like badges, reviews, and licenses.

Be mobile-friendly. Most of your traffic is coming from smartphones. Yes, we already talked about this. It’s so important I’ve listed it twice.

Show your phone number clearly. Top of the page in a contrasting color and always visible without scrolling. Make the phone number click to call.

Include a clear call to action. Tell them to call, schedule, or request a quote now. “Call Now,” is always a safe bet.

Highlight what makes you different. Do you offer emergency service? Are you licensed and insured? Do you offer a guarantee? Are you a local business? Family owned? Multi-generational? Spanish speaking?

One of the biggest mistakes we see is sending Google Ads traffic to a homepage instead of a focused, high-converting landing page. A homepage showcases your entire business. It is usually full of links and distractions. A landing page is designed to do one thing, that is, to convert a visitor into a lead.

If you’re not sure whether your site is hurting your ad performance, ask yourself , “would you call your company based on what you see when you click the ad?”

At Fine Life Marketing, we specialize in managing Google Ads campaigns for septic service companies. We’ve seen firsthand how small website issues can completely stall an otherwise well-targeted ad campaign. And we’ve also seen the dramatic turnaround that happens when the landing page is aligned with the ad.
